Takiminoyu, Nanki-Katsuura Onsen

Takiminoyu, Nanki-Katsuura Onsen

Nanki-Katsuura Onsen is located by the sea at the foothills of Mt. Nachi. Mt. Nachi is home to the Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine, one of three grand shrines registered as part of the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range, a UNESCO World Heritage site; Seiganto-ji Temple; and Japan’s tallest waterfall, the Nachi Falls. It is also one of the geosites included in Nanki Kumano Geopark, which was registered as a Japanese geopark on August 28, 2014. It is the perfect place to relax in a hot spring while appreciating the eternal blessings of mother nature. The area boasts more than 100 natural spring sources and an abundant yield of spring water. Meanwhile, the many famous ryokan and hotels in the area offer an array of bathing experiences—outdoor cave baths that provide views of the Pacific Ocean, outdoor baths with serene views of the bay, and more.
