Bamboo Craft for Tea Ceremony

Bamboo Craft for Tea Ceremony

Learn about bamboo and make something with it in Nagaokakyo, a city known for bamboo production. In the tea scoop-making session, a veteran artisan will demonstrate the way these items are made by hand. Participants also make single-flower vases from a bamboo duster (branch with leaves), selecting their favorite materials and finding the ideal angle to show them from. Both experiences are led by veteran artisans who have worked with bamboo for long years in Nagaokakyo, who are members of the Takano Chikko artisan group and specialize in instruction on making beautiful works from bamboo.
