MEDIEVAL SAKAI HISTORICAL WALKING WITH GUIDE

MEDIEVAL SAKAI HISTORICAL WALKING WITH GUIDE

Take a themed tour of Sakai focused on the samurai Miyoshi Nagayoshi, described as the first person to crawl up to become "ruler of the country" in the Warring States Period, as well as his father, Motonaga; his younger brother, Jikkyu; and the Miyoshi clan leader, Masanaga. Together, the Miyoshi clan exerted great power in the Sakai area in 16th century. You will learn about the Sakai bakufu government that arose amidst complex succession disputes with the Ashikaga clan and Hosokawa clan, as well as the Nichiren sect of Buddhism and its relationship and distance with the opposing Honganji sect.
