Ride in the century cedar canoe that won the Japan Wood Design Award and enjoy a forest game-meat lunch
Kushida River is a pristine body of water flowing through the lush forests of Iitaka. This river was once used to raft timber cut down the mountain to the plains. The "century cedar canoe" was cut from 100-year-old cedar trees and hand-carved to preserve this history. Immerse yourself in a historical experience on the Kushida River, once a hub of timber transportation, in this beautifully grained, Japan Wood Design Award-winning canoe. While exploring the headwaters of the river and the surrounding forests in a canoe, discover the nature and culture of the area and see the forest of Iitaka and human activity in harmony. Enjoy game-meat dishes made with local ingredients after the experience. (There is only 1 century cedar canoe. Groups of 2 or more will ride a normal canoe)
