Echizen NEW Funamori
"Echizen NEW Funamori" is a new take on the traditional boat-shaped sashimi platter, available in the town of Echizen since spring 2021. As well as fresh fish sashimi, this is a chance to enjoy fish in different ways like dashi-chazuke, seafood donburi, hand-rolled sushi, and even seafood al ajillo. The tradition of serving fish on a boat-shaped platter is said to have begun on the Echizen coast as a way to entertain the daimyo lords of Fukui in the Edo period.
