Enjoy 500-year-old Japanese puppet theater with a backstage tour
waji Ningyo Joruri puppet theater is a traditional art, an officially designated significant intangible folk cultural asset, that has been passed down since the mid-Edo period. Visit the Awaji-ningyo-za theater and enjoy a powerful and delicate puppet theater performance. Before the performance, you will receive a backstage tour with an explanation from the performers so you will be able to enjoy the show even more. After the show, volunteers will be able to experience the "three activities" of Japanese puppet theater under the instruction of performers as you try out three-person operation of a puppet, reciting a line aloud to express emotion (tayu), and shamisen musical performance. You can also take commemorative photos during the activity.
