In this unique attraction, visitors join a special experience tasting dishes once served to samurai. It is a rare chance for visitors of today to get a firsthand taste of the culinary delights offered to the samurai in that period. The dining venue is the banquet hall of the Hirakatashuku Municipal Kagiya Museum, a Japanese Registered Tangible Cultural Property. This unique location thrived as a boat storehouse from the 17th to mid-19th century (Edo period) and then as a ryokan restaurant/inn in the modern era. Its historical valuable is immeasurable. Visitors will feel like they stepped back in time during this special experience. The Hirakatashuku Municipal Kagiya Museum is also open to the public and introduces the history of Hirakatashuku and Yodo River boat transportation. The remnants of the boat lodging that flourished as a transit point for the Yodo River shipping route connecting Kyoto and Osaka are an important heritage that evokes the prosperity of that time. A historical road that once flourished as a post town still retains the atmosphere of those days. The buildings and atmosphere along the historic roads give the impression that time has stopped, allowing you to feel the spirit of Japan's good old days.
