This page provides official travel information about Shiba Ryotaro Memorial Museum and nearby attractions in the Kansai region of Japan.
The Shiba Ryotaro Memorial Museum opened in November 2001 next to the author’s home in a residential district in Higashiosaka City. Designed by Tadao Ando, the museum encourages visitors to “think” and “feel,” rather than simply “see.” The highlight of the museum is the open, three-layered bookshelf that stands approximately 11 meters tall. It stores around 20,000 books, and showcases the spirit of Shiba Ryotaro.
