The Japanese art of ukiyoe inspired major artists such as James Whistler, Mary Cassat and Claude Monet in the 19th century and has remained a source of fascination for many in the West. At Takezasado, visitors can learn the basics of the three crafts that are combined in the creation of a single ukiyoe print: drawing, woodblock carving, and printing. The center also offers more advanced lectures and demonstrations of ukiyoe printing, but visitors can learn the basics of woodblock printing in either course.
