“To serve genuine Sasayama taste,” Iwaya was opened over 40 years ago in the Valley of Hoto in northern Hyogo. The picturesque location with the thatched roof and a water wheel is pleasing in all seasons.
Sit around an Irori fireplace and taste Botan Nabe hotpot, Tamba-Sasayama’s specialty, with homemade miso. The restaurant owner buys a wild boar and slices it. The charcoal grilling at Irori goes well with the meat. He is particular about products from Tamba-Sasayama and rice is one of them, which received the governor’s award in the rice tasting contest. At the end of the hotpot, try the hot rice topped with a raw egg.
Besides the Botan Nabe in winter, they serve cuisine with ingredients in season. Savor the season in Japan with Tamba-Sasayama’s rich brand ingredients.
